PRESSING NEWS!

Rachel Afshari gives us the juicy details behind Nantucket’s newest healthy-eating hot spot, Lemon Press.

N MAGAZINE: Describe Lemon Press in five words.
AFSHARI: LIFESTYLE… EVOLVING… FRESH… DELICIOUS… PURE

N MAGAZINE: What inspired Lemon Press?
AFSHARI: We really wanted to fill a niche that we thought was missing from downtown — a place where you can get food quickly, but still feel good about what you are eating. Growing up in a salon atmosphere, Darya and I truly understand the meaning of eating in a hurry and can relate to others who hope to have a guilt-free meal option.

N MAGAZINE: What will you specialize in?
AFSHARI: We will specialize in a wide variety of cold pressed juices (pressed on site!), organic frozen yogurt (with a vegan option!), super food smoothies, raw bowls (acai and quinoa), and really delicious organic fair trade coffee and espresso. In addition to our specialty items, we will be carrying prepared food from The Green, made to order open-faced sandwiches and wraps, refreshing bottled beverages, and a selection of organic and natural market items ranging from olive oil to sunscreen.

Daryajuice-109N MAGAZINE: Is the building itself getting any changes?
AFSHARI: Our building is getting a serious makeover! It’s amazing how, with the right minds, you can create magic in such a small space! M.J. Gault Woodworking is the contractor on the job, along with JB Studio, who created the drawings. With a small, very busy, and mainly functional space, it’s been challenging to keep an artistic flow. Caroline Cole Designs has solved that issue and more with their undeniable passion for interiors. The space will also feature original photography by Daniel Sutherland.

N MAGAZINE: What will the dining experience be like?
AFSHARI: Lemon Press will be “grab and go healthy.” Everything will be take out, so if you’re pressed for time on your lunch break, you can grab something quick or you can take it with you to enjoy on the beach or a bench downtown.

N MAGAZINE: What will be some of your specialties?
AFSHARI: We are excited to offer open-faced sandwiche
s made with freshly baked bread AND with a gluten-free option. We are especially proud of our fresh-pressed lemonades that feature unique flavor profiles and will change all summer long. Just imagine a fresh cucumber lemonade on a hot day!

N MAGAZINE: There’s been a surge in juice companies on the island in recent years; how will Lemon Press distinguish itself?
AFSHARI: Lemon Press prides itself on so much more than just juice. We are committed to serving guests that want to live a healthy and delicious lifestyle on the go. What sets us apart is our passion for finding unique flavor combinations and the desire to create and share them with our guests. Our island home is our inspiration and we want Lemon Press to be reflective of our love for it.

N MAGAZINE: Are there any surprises in store for patrons?
AFSHARI: I think the organic frozen yogurt will be the biggest surprise for patrons. Most will be expecting juice, but to know that we have a delicious, healthy dessert alternative as well will just leave them with a smile. Who doesn’t want something sweet on vacation? This satisfies that urge and doesn’t leave you feeling guilty.

N MAGAZINE: Most importantly….when do you open!?
AFSHARI: We will keep you posted as soon as we know for sure! We are working diligently to open our doors for the summer season. The exact date will be noted on our website once it is official so stay tuned!
