WHAT YOUR FAVORITE NANTUCKET BEACH SAYS ABOUT YOU

With approximately 82 miles of coastline, it can be tough deciding which beach to go to on Nantucket. However, if you’re an island regular, you’re used to people asking you which one is your favorite. Little did you know, that answer gives them insight into more than you may think… Here’s what we at N Magazine think your favorite Nantucket beach says about you.

Sconset
SCONSET BEACH

You can’t be pinned down to one place. That’s why if you like Sconset beach, you’re in Sconset for more than just the beach. You can admire rose-covered cottages, munch on a sandwich from Claudette’s, and grab gourmet treats and coffee from the Sconset Market, all while being just a stone’s throw away from the sand.

SURFSIDE BEACH

You appreciate convenience (and probably have a huge family). Surfside is equipped with lifeguards, bathrooms and debatably the best cheeseburger on the island. Even if you forget your favorite beach toy or a bottle of water, it’s all right there up the path.

Madaket
MADAKET BEACH

You’re a hard worker who loves a post-work day beach session, and your beach day is just starting when the sun sets. Boasting arguably the best sunsets on island, Madaket-lovers stay for the view from the Westernmost point on island. (You also know the trip out isn’t complete without a Millie’s quesadilla!)

Cisco
CISCO BEACH

You’re active and social, so you love Cisco for its great waves and great crowd. You can ride the surf, run into half the island, and then easily cruise down to Cisco Brewers for live music, food truck snacks and a nice, cold beer.

Nobadeer 1
NOBADEER BEACH

You’re probably between the ages of 17 and 25, or you just love a good party. There’s nothing like being able to drive on prepared for an all-day beach cookout at Nobadeer, and you like a beach that promises a lively crowd, volleyball, and surfing all at once.

Ladies
LADIES BEACH

You’re willing to go the extra mile to get what you want. You have an understanding of Nantucket’s more hidden spots, and you can navigate the sandy dirt roads like a native to reach some of the most beautiful beach entrances on the island. (Not to mention your habitual stops at Bartlett’s Farm pre-beach to stock up your cooler!)

Steps 2
STEPS BEACH

You have an appreciation for the finer things in life. You have perfected Instagram and enjoy feeling like you live inside a postcard, surrounded by the serene sound and bright roses. You also love a good stair workout… it comes with the name!

Jetties
JETTIES BEACH

You like a balance of play and relaxation time. If you like calm waters and you’re in town with the kids, Jetties is your beach. You love to catch some sun, chase crabs, build sandcastles, and watch the boats in the distance. For those of us who can’t handle the freezing ocean waters, Jetties is the perfect temperature on a hot day.

Great point
GREAT POINT BEACH

You’re an adventurer. If you’re a Great Point-er, you love to get out into the Nantucket “wild”, willing to drive further than usual and onto the sand. Your jeep is filled with fishing poles, a grill, lunch supplies, and your biggest umbrella. You love setting up camp and staying put for hours, whether you’re casting a line or reading your favorite book.

Nantucket beaches stretch as far as the eye can see and beyond, but don’t let that intimidate and deter you from exploring each and every one. Every beach has something special about it. Step out of your comfort zone every once in a while, see what our beautiful island has to offer, and maybe you’ll find a piece of your personality you didn’t even know was there!
