1. Wave Year Round Kick-Off Celebration

For the first time ever, the NRTA Wave Bus will be operating year-round! To celebrate this exciting development, the NRTA will host a kick-off celebration on Friday morning, featuring speakers, contests to win year-round passes, giveaways, and more. 2. Scallopers Ball
Friday, September 28
6:30 – 11:00 pm @ Nantucket Yacht Club
Get out your shucking knives and your dust off your dancing shoes – the Scallopers Ball is back! Hosted by the Nantucket Shellfish Association, this annual party marks the beginning of scalloping season on the island. Expect live music, dancing, and of course, a bevy of local, raw, and delicious seafood. Although the event is sold-out, you can request to be put on the waitlist for a ticket. 3. Nantucket Arts Festival Opening Night Concert
Saturday, September 29
6:00 pm @ United Methodist Church
Celebrate the Arts on Nantucket with the Opening Night Concert for the Nantucket Arts Festival. Hosted by the Nantucket Arts Council, the kick-off concert will feature the band The Lobbyists, with entrance to the art exhibit opening upstairs afterwards. 4. 5K Run for Recovery

9:00 am @ Bartlett’s Farm
Did you know that September is National Recovery Month? Nantucket Rising and Bartlett’s Farm have come together to draw attention to this initiative and mental health and substance use disorders on the island with the 5K Run for Recovery. Enjoy a beautiful run along Bartlett’s Farm, Miacomet Pond, and the Atlantic Ocean, all while supporting a great cause. 5. Cocktails & Claws Fundraiser

Get crACKin’ on your outfit for the Cocktails & Claws Fundraiser – this event is not one to be missed! Join the Harvey Foundation and CRU to support the MEAL initiative – Meaningful Eats in Adolescent Lives. This program helps to get Nantucket students in 6th through 12th grades together to prepare a meal and understand balanced nutrition. 6. Manhattan Short Film Festival
September 30, October 2 and 5

Film Buffs – this one’s for you. You’ve heard of the Nantucket Film Festival and the Nantucket Shorts Festival, now get the best of both worlds (and a pretty worldly selection of films) with the Manhattan Short Film Festival. Now in its 20th year, the MSFF is a global event featuring ten short films, and is screened in more than 250 venues across six continents. 7. TWN Staged Reading: Truth or Consequences

8. Food for Thought Lecture

Nantucket has long been associated with the whaling industry, but we don’t often think about what happened after its demise. Dr. Jamie Jones will explore this topic in the Food for Thought Lecture Series: The Cultural “Afterlife” of Whaling. 10. The Diary of Anne Frank Opening Night
