1. Festival of Trees

Any day in December is a perfect day to take in the Whaling Museum’s winter wonderland! Wander through festive trees decorated by local businesses and islanders and choose your personal favorite before the exhibit closes on December 31. For more information, click here

 

2. NHA Holiday Homes
Friday, December 27 – Monday, December 30
11:00 am – 4:00 pm @ Hadwen House, Thomas Macy House, & Greater Light

Tour three NHA historical homes decorated for the holiday season! Wander through just one home or all three with the Holiday All-Access Pass, available for purchase at the Whaling Museum. $5 for all Nantucket year-round residents! Closing December 30. For more information, click here

 

3. Kids in the Kitchen: Winter Cooking Workshop
Monday, December 30 – Thursday, January 2
10:00 am – 12:00 pm @ Nantucket Culinary Center

Calling all Top Chef Juniors! Chef Greg will be teaching age appropriate skills and culinary techniques as part of a weeklong workshop series. Kids will prepare portions of the meal throughout the week, culminating in a family meal with service by the students on Thursday. For more information, click here.  

 

4. Seals, Sharks & Stewardship: The Nantucket Hotel Under the Sea Seminar
Monday, December 30
3:00 – 5:00 pm @ Nantucket Hotel

Begin 2020 with a fresh perspective on our undersea friends at this under-the-sea themed seminar. Featuring talks and conversation with Thaïs Fournier of the Nantucket Natural Resources department, Scott Leonard of the Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket, WPI students and the Moby Project, President of the New England Aquarium Vikki Spruill, and shark specialist Dr. Greg Skomal. 5. Sipping with Sea Creatures
Monday, December 30
6:00 – 8:00 pm @ Nantucket Culinary Center

This Monday, stir your creative side as you sip craft cocktails at this special class! Attendees will be taught all the elements of an ocean-inspired masterpiece and go home with a completed piece of artwork. All materials are provided, and a cash bar will be available. 6. Hands on History
Tuesday, December 31
10:30 am – 12:00 pm @ Nantucket Historical Association

Tiny tots will love closing out 2019 with this crafty event! Bring your kids to the NHA for a drop-in craft morning. All materials will be provided, but parents should stick around to keep on eye on their small fries. For more information, click here

 

7. New Year’s Public Skate Party
Tuesday, December 31
12:00 – 2:00 pm @ Nantucket Ice

We can’t think of a better way to skate out of 2019 than to do it *literally* at Nantucket Ice! Join fellow frozen friends for a loop around the rink in celebration of the new year. For more information, click here

 

8. Dune 3 Course New Years Meal

5:00 pm @ Dune Restaurant

9. New Years Eve Gala & Party

Coast your way over to Nantucket Hotel and wave hello to 2020 at its New Year’s Eve Under the Sea Gala! Matty B will be spinning a mix of party tunes as guests dive into a delicious dinner, with plenty of dancing to follow. Resort-chic and ocean-inspired attire is encouraged. 10. Film for Thought: 63 Up
Wednesday, January 1 + Thursday, January 2
6:30 pm – 2:00 pm @ Nantucket Dreamland

This groundbreaking documentary has been more than just years in the making – it’s literally a multi-year film. Following the lives of a group of people since they were seven, the participants are now in their sixties and navigating new and difficult challenges. A true masterpiece in filmmaking.
