1. WAX OFF, WAY OFF
The road to the winner’s circle begins in the garage. Break out a chamois and put some elbow grease into making your classic car gleam to the heavens. Forget Turtle wax — pick up a bottle of Meguiar’s NXY Generation Tech Wax for that really pro glow.

2. COSTUMING IS CRITICAL
A good outfit can make the difference between an honorable mention and a true showstopper. TIP: Wigs can really blow the judges hair back.

3. PLAY IT UP
As any good actor would tell you, a costume is only half the battle to getting into character. To take the blue ribbon you must go full-on Bobby Dinero and play that role method.

4. HATS OFF TO YOU
If you’re not into rocking a costume, a good hat will put a bee in the judge’s bonnet and can really cap things off for you.

Daffy Rain Shot5. BE A CHAMPION…RAIN OR SHINE
Last year’s Daffy rainout dampened the spirits of most festival-goers, but the true classic car champions soaked it up. The rain whittled down the field, bringing the Best in Show ribbon that much closer. So if the rain does come, pop open an umbrella and put on a smile.

6. DON’T BREAK DOWN
You can’t be judged if you don’t make it to the winner’s circle. Many a Daffy Car Parade has seen beautiful classic cars in a smoky heap on the side of the road because they broke down. So check your oil, fill ‘er up at Hatches, and drive with enough people to push you to Sconset if need be.

Daffodil Auto Parade-47. RACE YOUR RACE
Unless you’re going for the Triple Crown, focus on one event to take the prize in. Daffodil Fest awards 1st, 2nd and 3rd ribbons for Best in Show, People’s Choice, Most Authentic, Best Decorated and Best Tailgate Picnic. Check out last year’s winners and see how you stack up!

8. DON’T DRINK AND DAFFY
This one’s obvious, but worth mentioning nonetheless: Daffy brings with it the temptation of pouring a cocktail, but if you’re behind the wheel, keep it clean.

9. DON’T LET THE JUDGES GO AWAY HUNGRY
The fastest way to all Daffy Fest judges’ hearts is through their stomach. So loading up on Daffy delights and can really sweeten deal. Make sure to make it bite sized and finger food. A cupcake can go a long way.

10. TAKE IT ALL IN
Beyond the cars and costumes and cakes, Daffodil Festival is about, you guessed it, the Daffodils! Take a look at these beautiful blossoms around us. At the end of the day, they beat any ribbon a judge could give!
