N Magazine caught up with Ana Vysotskaya, owner of the new Nantucket eco boutique Tellus, to hear about the concept for her shop and to check out some of her favorite pieces and top sellers this summer!
Ana grew up in Belarus, where simple and organic was the way of living. Instead of throwing things away, they were repaired or reused, and food was always fresh from the source. She spent summers living in her grandmother’s village or at her family’s country home, where gardening and caring for the livestock were part of her day-to-day life.
Flash forward to 2015 and the opening of Tellus on Nantucket’s Straight Wharf. The concept for Tellus arose from Ana’s Belarus roots and her desire to share her eco-friendly way of living. Ana describes Nantucket as being very sustainability-conscious, and she wanted to fill a niche for local Nantucketers, and summer residents and tourists alike, to have access to eco-friendly products right here on island! And in a world that is increasingly focused on products that are safe for both the consumer and the Earth, Tellus fits right in.
