4. Tom Nevers’ Nantucket Island Fair
Saturday, September 19 + Sunday, September 20 || 10 A.M. – 4 P.M. || Tom Nevers Park
Nothing says fall like a good ol’ fashioned town fair! Head out to the Old Navy Base at the end of Tom Nevers Road for a weekend of live music, delicious fair food, scarecrow building, livestock shows and more! $15 entry fee for cars, only $5 for cyclists and those on foot. Nantucket is considered one of the most beautiful places to on the East coast to stargaze, so why not do it with the Maria Mitchell Association’s professional astronomers? 7. Underwater Photography with Ben Phillips
Wednesday, September 23 || 7 P.M. || Dreamland Theater
“Of all the fish in the sea, the things Nantucket native and underwater photographer Ben Phillips find most fascinating are no bigger than your thumbnail!” Following two successful presentations with the Nantucket Historical Association last month, Phillips will be heading to the Dreamland to present a slide show and lecture of his underwater photography from Nantucket, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. From riches to rags, “I OF THE STORM” is an unlikely success story in which our hero loses it all and finds what he never had including self acceptance and a long stifled creative bent. The Theatre Workshop of Nantucket and the Nantucket Historical Association have teamed up to bring you “Twelve Angry Women,” a staged reading based on Reginald Rose’s iconic courtroom drama “Twelve Angry Men.” Revolving around the deliberation of a female jury over a homicide trial, “Twelve Angry Women” chronicles the journey from agreement to chaos through the introduction of reasonable doubt.
