2. AAN Collaboration 2015 Exhibition Reception
Friday, September 11 || 6 – 8 P.M. || Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Artist Association of Nantucket’s “Collaboration” exhibition! Using 10×10 canvases, AAN members and non-members have curated a show that you won’t want to miss. Come out and support the work of your fellow artists, students, and community members!

New York-based, Billboard Award-winning songwriter and rock musician, Jeff Tuohy, will be taking the stage at The Chicken Box this weekend! Melding classic rock, country, hip-hop, and R&B, the Jeffy Tuohy Band has been described as “a musical chameleon” who will no doubt bring down the house! Can’t make it to the box for his night show? No problem! You can catch Tuohy at Cisco Brewers on Saturday, September 12 at 4 P.M.

Every Saturday from May to November, the Nantucket Clean Team meets — rain or shine — to help keep our beloved island beautiful. This weekend, the Clean Team will tackle Clark’s Cove and could use your help! Bags and gloves are provided, just show up with a positive attitude!

Saturday, September 12 || 7 A.M. – 12 P.M. || UMass Field Station
Benefitting the Nantucket UMass Field Station’s Water Defense initiative, the Nantucket Paddle Battle is back in action! Racers will compete in a 6 or 3 mile course, or participate in the family fun paddle! NOTE: Event location has been changed from Jetties to the UMass Field Station, adjacent to Fulling Mill Creek. In October 2008, renowned alpinists Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk arrived in Northern India to tackle the Shark’s on Mount Meru. What was supposed to be a seven-day climb quickly turned into a harrowing 20-day journey in sub-zero temperatures. Despite making it to within 100 meters of the elusive summit, they were unsuccessful. But they weren’t giving up. You won’t want to miss this tale of adventure and perseverance, and one of N Mag’s favorite films from NFF 2015, playing at the Dreamland this week! Get your tickets here.

Attention writers! Are you looking for a supportive and constructive environment to share your work and bat around new ideas? The Nantucket Atheneum’s twice-monthly “Writer’s Group” is for you! The goal of the group is to “loosen up and get the pen moving on paper” so come out and flex your writing muscles! Admission is free, just come armed with pen and paper or your trusty computer!

Thursday, September 17 || 6:30 P.M. || Dreamland Theater
The NFF Now film series is back this fall, presented by the Nantucket Film Festival and the Dreamland Film & Performing Arts Center. This is the first time we’re screening in September, and we’re very excited to continue to expand our year-round special programming collaboration. The film has been an audience favorite at many film festival nationally, and we’re sure it’ll be a great fit for the Nantucket community. The film is absolutely appropriate to teens and children, as it has an important message about bullying in today’s culture. There will be a Skype Q&A post-screening! Get your tickets here.
