1. Spooky Science
Friday, November 8

This one’s for the kids! Bring the youngsters to Nantucket Elementary School this Friday for some spooky science fun with the Maria Mitchell Association. Projects include creating ghost rockets, Franken-doodle-bots, conduction playdough monsters, slime, and more. For more information, click here

 

2. Dreamland Storytelling: Gratitude
Friday, November 8

Be there when the first edition of the Dreamland Storyteller series kicks off this Friday with an evening of educated storytelling centered around the theme of Gratitude. Bonnie Levison (a consultant to NPR’s The Moth) will be on hand to help guide participants in developing their storytelling skills. For tickets and more information, click here

 

3. Curling for Beginners
Friday, November 8
7:00 – 8:30 pm @ Nantucket Ice

Calling all aspiring Olympic athletes: this one’s for you! Nantucket Curling League members are teaching a four-week comprehensive program to curling beginners. 4. Warren Miller Film Tour: Timeless
Saturday, November 9
7:00 pm @ The Dreamland

Don’t skip this event and be the ‘Jerry of the Day’! Shred the gnar over to the Dreamland for the biggest skiing event to ever hit Nantucket. See Warren Miller’s ski epic Timeless, and then walk away with an armful of door prizes, raffle entries, and lift tickets. 5. Panel: Shoulder Season Survival Stories
Tuesday, November 12
5:00 – 7:00 pm @ Nantucket Culinary Center

Moderated by Marsha Egan, this panel will explore the trials and tribulations of what it’s like to live thirty miles out to sea in the off-season, and how to keep your spirits up along the way. Panelists include Spas Marinkov (owner of Window Spa Company), Bess Clarke (CEO of Nantucket Looms), Chef Patrick Ridge of Island Kitchen, and Christopher Young. For more information, click here

 

6. Camera Fundamentals Workshop
Tuesday, November 12 + Thursday, November 14
5:30 – 7:00 pm @ NCTV

Aspiring movie directors and lifelong film buffs will love this class on the fundamentals of working a camera. Instruction includes basic camera operation, composition principles, and the rule of thirds for composing professional shots. To register and find more information, click here

 

7. The Human Element Screening & Local Environmental Panel
Tuesday, November 12
6:00 pm @ The Dreamland

This event is not just important for Nantucketers – it could be life-changing. The Human Element documentary depicts our ever-changing world, with special attention to how the human race is affecting our planet’s natural state. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Graeme Durovich of the Department of Public Works and Emily Molden of the Nantucket Land Council. 8. Amateur Radio Forum

Radioheads, scan your calendar and seek out your schedule this Tuesday, because you are going to love this event!
