The Museum of African American History is New England’s largest museum dedicated to the contributions of the African American community. With two campuses in Boston and Nantucket, the Museum aims to inspire an understanding of the region’s rich history through its educational programs, collections, and exhibits. 2. Nantucket Boys & Girls Club
The Nantucket Boys & Girls Club helps kids through every walk of life by providing a helping hand, a place for organized athletics, an opportunity for them to be creative, a friend to talk to, and so much more. 3. Black Lives Matter Boston
Black Lives Matter Boston is the local chapter of the international Black Lives Matter movement, combating anti-Black violence and building Black power in the Boston area and beyond. For more information, click here.
4. Violence in Boston
Founded in 2017, Violence in Boston seeks to reduce the number of anti-Black acts of violence, creating a safer and healthier environment for the Black community. Violence in Boston’s social impact teams continue to organize group protests and conversations to facilitate lasting social and political change in Boston. For more information, click here.
5. The Loveland Foundation
The Loveland Foundation offers fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more, creating a space for healing and therapy among Boston’s community of Black women and girls. For more information, click here.
6. Families for Justice as Healing
A grassroots organization centered in Boston, the Families for Justice as Healing strives to end the incarceration of women and girls in Massachusetts. While the organization’s website is under construction, you can donate at the bottom of this site or support their work on social media.
7. The Black Ministerial Alliance of Greater Boston
Established during the 1960s civil rights movement, The Black Ministerial Alliance of Greater Boston redistributes funds and resources to help churches, ministries, and nonprofits serve low-income communities in Boston. For more information, click here.
8. Massachusetts Bail Fund
The Massachusetts Bail Fund strives for a more equitable bail system, paying bails up to $2000 to free low-income individuals in Essex and Suffolk Counties during the pre-trial period. For more information, click here.
9. Massachusetts ACLU
A state affiliate of the national ACLU, the Massachusetts American Civil Liberties Union works to defend the rights of individuals as protected by the Massachusetts Declaration of Rights, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. For more information, click here.
