2. Nantucket Ballet Presents: “Peter and the Wolf” and “Carnival of Animals”

Enjoy storytelling by Nantucket Ballet dancers as they perform two classic shows for children. The stories “Carnival of Animals” and “Peter and the Wolf” will use music and dance to bring new life to animals and ensure that your imagination will run wild. Buy your tickets here.
3. Raise the Roof Screening & Cocktail Party

8:30 P.M. Party @ Nantucket Culinary Center
Celebrate Nantucket Preservation Month with a free screening of “Raise the Roof,” a film about the re-creation of a beautifully intricate Polish synagogue’s roof. After the show, the Nantucket Culinary Center will host a cocktail party with the film’s producer and director, complete with passed hors d’oeuvres and delicious beer and wine. 4. Bike Nantucket

Get those legs moving with Bike Nantucket with your choice of a 10-mile, 16-mile, 32-mile, or a rigorous 50-mile bike ride to benefit Family & Children’s Services of Nantucket. Stick around after the ride to attend the Wellness Expo featuring dozens of local wellness and health providers! 5. PASCON’s Dreamcatcher Dinner & Auction

Galley Beach will host the 23rd annual Dreamcatcher Dinner and Auction raising funds for Palliative & Support Care of Nantucket. Don’t have a ticket? They may be sold out, but don’t worry. 6. Elin Hilderbrand’s “Here’s To Us” Pre-Release Book Signing

Nantucket’s favorite local writer, Elin Hilderbrand, will be at Mitchell’s Book Corner for a special pre-release signing of her newest novel, “Here’s to Us.” Pick up your signed copy on its release date, June 14, and here’s to YOU for being ahead of the game!
7. Plein Air Nantucket

Need some inspiration? Join over 20 artists for this six-day painting extravaganza in designated painting areas stretching from Washing Pond to Great Point. All artists have the opportunity to hang up to 4 pieces of artwork, completed or not, in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery. All artists are welcome, so come get your creative juices flowing! 8. Ripe Concert

Boston-based band Ripe will be at the Chicken Box for an evening of music that can be described as pop/funk with modern twist on psychedelic sound. So come out and get down while this fresh band is on island! Tickets can be purchased here.
9. Preserving the Art of Reading: 30 Miles Out Book + Wine Pairing

5 – 7 P.M. @ Épernay Wine & Spirits
Sip your way through the story “30 Miles Out?” with the author himself, RC Atchisson. A storyline based on Nantucket, there is no better way to celebrate the start of Nantucket Book Festival than with this page-turning series paired with Épernay wines.
10. Jazz at the Museum

6 P.M. @ Nantucket Whaling Museum
Feeling out of tune? Stop by the Nantucket Whaling Museum for a concert of Jazz classics by Ann Martindale and Richard Busch. This evening will feature songs by George and Ira Gershwin, Nat King Cole, Harold Arlen, all paired with the Whaling Museum’s restored 1925 Steinway grand piano. Sit back and enjoy this enchanting evening!
