1. Struck by Light: The Photograms of Ellen Carey

The Hostetler Gallery is shedding light on the work of Ellen Carey, an abstract photographer known for her experimental approach to color and light using a method called the photogram. 2. Page to Stage: Mark Halperin
Monday, July 31
5 P.M. @ The Dreamland

Come out to the Dreamland and hear Mark Halperin, author, political analyst for MSNBC, and former co-managing editor of Bloomberg Politics, in conversation with former broadcast journalist Natalie Jacobsen. Halperin is the co-author of Double Down: Game Change 2012, which he will be discussing at this special Page to Stage event starting at 5 PM Tickets are available here.




3. Summer Sunset Series
Monday, July 31
7 P.M. @ The Whaling Museum

Enjoy the final sunset of July on the Whaling Museum’s rooftop observation deck with music by Randy Deshaies featuring local DJ Peter Ahern. 4. White Heron Presents: The Tempest
Monday, July 31
7:30 P.M. @ White Heron Theatre

Follow an adventurous tale of shipwrecks, storms, and magic with the students of White Heron Theatre as they present a family-friendly production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. 5. NHA Nantucket by Design

6 P.M.

The Nantucket Historical Association presents its major summer fundraiser, Nantucket by Design. With lectures, panel discussions and grand gatherings, the NHA celebrates the very best in creative design. 6. Armarium Pop-Up
Tuesday, August 1 – Friday, August 4
10 A.M. – 7 P.M. @ The White Elephant

Need a glamorous outfit for an end-of-the-summer party? Pop into the White Elephant between August 1st and August 4th for a one-stop-shop summer trunk show. Armarium, the online platform that offers luxury clothing and accessories to rent, is heading to Nantucket with a collection of pieces perfect for all occasions. 7. NISHA 5 Year Anniversary Celebration
Wednesday, August 2
6 – 9 P.M. @ Bartlett’s Farm

The Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals is celebrating its fifth anniversary at Bartlett’s Farm with cocktails and appetizers, farm-to-table dinner, silent and live auctions and special appearances by furry friends. Proceeds from the event will go toward providing shelter and care for animals in need, as well as funding for education programs, outreach and advocacy. 8. Film for Thought: One Big Home

Follow Thomas Bena, carpenter and Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival founder, as he investigates the threat of trophy homes on Martha’s Vineyard and attempts to create a new bylaw that would limit house size on the island. Watch as Bena faces angry homeowners and builders who would rather look the other way in effort to make great change within the community in his documentary, One Big Home. 9. Page to Stage: Buzz Bissinger
Thursday, August 3

Witness Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Buzz Bissinger in conversation with former broadcast journalist Natalie Jacobsen at the Dreamland for a memorable page to stage event. Bissinger is most known for his nonfiction book Friday Night Lights, which was adapted to a film and popular television series, and has also contributed to Vanity Fair, The New York Times and Sports Illustrated. 10. Romeo & Juliet Opening Performance
Thursday, August 3
7:30 P.M. @ White Heron Theatre

This Thursday evening, fall in love again at the White Heron Theatre’s opening of Romeo & Juliet, the Shakespeare classic that has captivated audiences around the world for centuries. Psittacus Productions’ rendition of the play is a brand new, hour-long musical adaptation that includes an ensemble of five performers, intricate choreography and Shakespeare’s timeless, eloquent poetry.
