1. For the Birds – An Island-Kind Pop Up Shop

This season, it’s all about the red and green – going green, that is! Help make your holiday a little more environment-friendly by stopping by the For the Birds Pop Up at Handlebar Cafe. The local coffee shop will be partnering with 100 Mile Makers to sell cloth bowl covers, produce bags, ‘ziploc’ bags and more. Bulk coffee will also be for sale to help keep up your shopping energy! 2. Pajamas & Pizza Story Time
Friday, December 14
5:30 – 6:30 pm @ The Atheneum 

Take your favorite tiny tots out for a night on the town this Friday. The Atheneum will be hosting an old-fashioned pizza party for children five years and younger. 3. Double Red Ticket Day

With only two more weekends before Christmas, the clock is ticking to shop for everyone on your nice list! Luckily, shopping in town this Saturday will be twice as nice because it’s a Double Red Ticket Day at tons of local stores. 4. Closing Sale & Celebration

11:00 am – 2:00 pm @ Bartlett’s Farm

5. Herb Wreath Making for Adults + Kids Craft Class

Looking to get a little crafty this season? The Nantucket Culinary Center has the perfect pair of craft classes to engage the whole family. Adults can take part in an herb wreath making class with wine and cheese, while the kids can make gingerbread crafts at the same time next door. 6. Neighborhood Project
Monday, December 17
5:00 – 8:00 pm @ The Unitarian Church

Get your popcorn and your mind ready. As part of an ongoing project over the course of 8 months, the Nantucket Project will present 8 film screenings under the umbrella of their Neighborhood Project series. The movies will focus on acceptance, racism, forgiveness, duties, and satisfaction. In addition, film buffs and participants will chow down on a potluck before each movie to build a stronger sense of community and togetherness. For more information, click here

 

7. Pints & Paints
Tuesday, December 18
5:30 pm @ Cisco Brewers

Celebrate the countdown to Christmas with a beer and a brush this Tuesday. Attendees will be painting a snowy white Christmas Tree in honor of the one-week mark until Noel! 8. Film for Thought: The Mercy
Wednesday, December 19
6:30 pm @ Nantucket Dreamland

Set sail for an incredible tale this Wednesday with the Dreamland’s FFT: The Mercy. Starring Rachel Weisz, David Thewlis, and Colin Firth, this incredibly film tells the story of amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst and his solo attempt to circumnavigate the globe. 9. Holiday Table Hands-On Cooking Class

Sure, we all love a holiday ham or a tasty turkey, but aren’t all good holiday meals really about the sides?! Prepare to be a side-making superstar at Chef Greg’s cooking class on Wednesday, featuring roasted chestnuts, au gratin potatoes, and roasted butternut squash with apples.
