Taking It To The Streets

Cousins Darya and Rachel Afshari know a thing or two about Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern cuisine and they’re taking it to the streets this summer. The Lemon Press ladies who own the bustling organic eatery and cafe on Main Street are expanding their operation with a new food truck starting this weekend to help Cisco Brewery-goers chow down while quenching their thirst.

“The vibe is Mediterranean street food,” says Rachel. “We’re pulling from our Persian roots.” Visitors will recognize some of the menu items that have made appearances on the Lemon Press menu in the past, but the ladies are expanding our palates by giving us some of the classics they grew up with. Rachel points to her family for the menu’s inspiration. “Kami, my dad, was born and raised in Iran. We’ll feature his famous avocado dip that we’d always eat at family gatherings.”

Along with Kami’s delicious dip, expect to see unique, healthy, and sustainable options to pair with your local beverages all summer. Their “snacks” section will feature other dips, pita chips, truffle fries, and even a tomato ezme that will take you straight to the streets of Istanbul. This seasonal summer tomato treat will pair perfectly with a Cisco IPA. They also will feature a few signature “mains” if you’re looking for a full meal. Rachel says to look out for another one of their family favorites; the Lebanese pita with hummus, romaine, pickled summer veggies, sustainable sheep’s milk feta, and cucumber-mint yogurt.

The Lemon Press truck has your back this summer and will add to the list of diverse food offerings out at the Brewery this year. The staff, for one, are already drooling at the many options. “Mediterranean street food adds great variety to a list of vendors already celebrating New England fare,” says Cisco GM Ricki Millington. Lemon Press helps complete the trip around the world in the Cisco courtyard where you can now visit Asia, Italy, Mexico, and now the Middle East.
