Nantucket Halloween Happenings 2021

Halloween festivities are back this year and events are happening all over the island today and through the weekend. Nantucket Current brings you a rundown of Halloween happenings in today’s edition.


For kids:

🎃 Atheneum: The library is offering free “grab & go” art project kits on Saturday – a pop-up haunted house you can make and decorate to be as spooky as you want. You will need scissors, tape, glue, and coloring supplies, but all other materials are provided. Suggested for Ages 7-plus. The kits will be vailable on the Weezie Library Porch from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until they run out.

🎃 Barnaby’s Toy & Art Shack: The store is hosting a free Halloween slime class on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Space is limited. To reserve your spot, e-mail barnabyack@gmail.com. 

🎃 Nantucket Historical Association: The NHA is hosting a “Spooky Halloween” crafting event for kids at its Discovery Center on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Kids can pick a spooky lantern filled with surprises and try a new craft, making marigold flowers out of tissue paper and learning the cultural history of the Day of the Dead

🎃 Downtown Halloween: Trick-or-Treating at shops and businesses will began in the early afternoon on Sunday. Costume judging begins at 3:30 p.m. on Main Street in front of Ralph Lauren. The parade sponsored by the town’s Office of Culture & Tourism and The Inquirer and Mirror will begin at 4 p.m. at the Main Street fountain

🎃 Mizzenmast: The mid-island neighborhood will be hosting its annual trick-or-treating extravaganza as usual this year on Sunday afternoon/evening.


For adults:

🎃 Chicken Box: Dalton & The Sheriffs will be playing the Box’s annual Halloween party on Saturday starting at 10:30 p.m. This is not a ticketed event, but expect a cover charge.

🎃 Cisco Brewers: Families can take part in pumpkin carving (the pumpkins are free!) at the brewery, which will also be hosting the band Craig Dryer & Friends which features members of Dispatch, Dap Kings, Deep Banana Blackout, and Buster Poindexter.

🎃 The Dreamland: While its Halloween Party with DJs Pete Ahern and TooRare on Saturday night is officially sold out, limited tickets will be available via the rush line at the door, beginning at 7 p.m.

🎃 The Gaslight is inviting patrons to dress up or “come as you are” for Halloween festivities tonight with  “A Trip to Mars” with Buckle & Shake for an “out of this world space theme.” On Sunday, the Gaslight will open at 3:30 p.m. for downtown trick-or-treating, followed by “Spooky Karaoke” Sunday night.

🎃 The Muse: Halloween party on Saturday night with DJ Junior starting at 9:30 p.m. A $500 cash prize is up for grabs for the best costume.

🎃 Slip 14: Halloween costume party on Sunday, with everything on the menu $14 until it’s gone as it will be the restaurant’s closing weekend until Christmas Stroll
