1. Curling for Beginners
Friday, November 1

Calling all aspiring Olympic athletes: this one’s for you! Nantucket Curling League members are teaching a four-week comprehensive program to curling beginners. Participants will learn the basics of the sport, progress into game play, scoring, and more. Drop-ins are welcome! For more information, click here

 

2. S.T.A.R. Chopped
Saturday, November 2
10:00 – 11:30 am @ Nantucket Culinary Center

Kids are the secret ingredient in this cooking series. Classes focus on food prep, safe food handling, menu planning, and basic cooking. Each class culminates in the sharing of a meal of the class’s creation. For more information, click here

 

3. Run for Robin
Sunday, November 3
8:30 am @ ‘Sconset Casino

The 5th Annual Run for Robin 5K is back to benefit the Harvey Foundation! Honoring the life of runner and Nantucket community member Robin Harvey, the Harvey Foundation has awarded $24,000 to the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club over the years, as well as given 2,350 books to children entering kindergarten at Nantucket Elementary School. There are so many ways to get involved – you can sign up to run or walk, volunteer at the race, become a sponsor, or donate to the Run Raffle. For more information, click here. 

 

4. Day in the Garden with Sustainable Nantucket
Tuesday, November 5
9:00 am – 2:30 pm @ 32 First Way, Sustainable Nantucket Garden

“Inch by inch, row by row…” Help Sustainable Nantucket’s garden grow this coming Tuesday! Students in grades K-5 are welcome to spend the day with Sustainable Nantucket in the Joyce N. Furman Youth Garden learning about plants, soil, and healthy eating through a variety of hands on activities. For more information, click here

 

5. Nantucket Community School: Cooking for Kids
Tuesday, November 5 + Thursday, November 7
3:00 – 4:30 pm @ Nantucket Culinary Center

Explore Nantucket Culinary Center’s curriculum for kids, focusing on experiential learning in NCC’s beautiful state-of-the-art kitchen. 6. November BAH Hosted by Nantucket Community Music Center

7. Basic Manners for Young Dogs
Tuesday, November 5
5:30 – 6:30 pm @ Front Lobby, Cyrus Peirce Middle School

Who let the dogs out? Take your new dog to learn a thing or two in this beginners class for young pups. Als Allan will teach basic obedience including attention, polite greetings, sit, down, stay, come when called, loose leash walking and impulse control. 8. Film for Thought: Raise Hell
Wednesday, November 6 + Thursday, November 7
6:30 + 2:00 pm @ The Dreamland

“Nevertheless, she persisted” is a phrase that could fit political columnist Molly Ivins perfectly. In Raise Hell, director Janice Engel documents Ivins’ life as a Bill of Rights warrior, best-selling author, and take-no-prisoners-Texan. For more information, click here

 

9. Epernay Wine Tasting
Thursday, November 7
5:00 – 7:00 pm @ Epernay Wine & Spirits

Anchors away for an excellent tasting with Epernay Wine & Spirits! As part of their Cheers to Charities series, Epernay will be supporting the Egan Maritime Institute, an organization dedicated to preserving the island’s seafaring past while educating young Nantucketers about maritime life. 10% of sales during the event will be donated to Egan Maritime. 10. Ladies Night
Thursday, November 7
5:00 – 8:00 pm @ Bartlett’s Farm

Oh yes it’s Ladies Night and the feeling’s right to support the wonder women of Nantucket businesses! Head out to Bartlett’s Farm for an evening of entrepreneurship, exciting goodies, and entertainment. VIP hour starts at 5:00 pm, and the event opens to the general public at 6:00pm.
