The Nantucket New School and Strong Wings Adventure School’s annual fundraising event has finally arrived! This year, they are joined by musicians Ed Romanoff and Clive Barnes for what is sure to be a night to remember.

2. Blinded by the Light Exhibition
Friday, July 3 || 6 – 8 P.M. || Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery
If you know Nantucket, you know there is nothing quite like the colors and light of the island. So why not have a show dedicated to pops of color and shimmering beauty? The Artists Association of Nantucket invites you to come and enjoy taking in the incredible diversity of artwork they represent, all with the common thread of color and light.

Celebrating its 20th year on Nantucket this summer, the Dane Gallery will be kicking off July with an incredible show and opening reception. Featured will be glass sculpture by Toots Zynsky, who will be in attendance, as well as ten Seattle glass artists, all of whom are alumni of William Morris’s team. Be sure to stop by their gallery at 28 Centre Street!

4. 4th of July Festivities

Is there anywhere you’d rather be on Independence Day than Nantucket? Before ending your day at Jetties Beach to watch the impressive fireworks show, catch the dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence, get your face painted on Main street, take a stab at the pie-eating contest, or pack a picnic and head to the beach for a day of fun!

Jay Craven’s newest film, “Peter and John,” was shot right here on Nantucket and is the story of two brothers living on island during its “ghost period” – after the decline of whaling, but before the rise of tourism. See what happens when one brother comes into an unexpected inheritance and both brothers fall in love with the same woman.

Celebrate the start of July with the NHA on the Whaling Museum’s stunning rooftop observation deck for their first Summer Sunset Series event! Jefferson Hamer or The Murphy Beds and Shawn Magee of The Barbary Ghosts will serenade you as you enjoy light bites, a cash bar, and the best view of Nantucket harbor. 10. Green Thumb Flower Show

Join the Nantucket Garden Club for their 48th Community Green Thumb Flower Show, “Sincerely, Sconset: Glimpses from a Summer Village.” Floral arrangement and design will be on full display, offering you inspiration for your summer bouquets! What’s more, there will be a section of floral photography to complement the real thing, as well as gifts and gardening tools and items for all you Nantucket green thumbs!
