1. Summer Small Works Reception
Friday, July 14
6 – 8 P.M. @ Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery

Join the Artists Association of Nantucket in celebration of the Summer Small Works Exhibition this Friday for their opening reception. The show will consist of close to 400 works, all size 11×14 or smaller, with artist Jan Purdy Metcalf as a featured artist. Metcalf’s work this season focuses on little black dresses and dancers gliding through the paint. The show will continue until July 31st. For more information, click here.



2. Forrest Rodts: Island Time
Friday, July 14
6 – 8 P.M. @ Quidley & Company

Examine the finest details of the island like you’ve never seen them before through the work of long-time Nantucket admirer Forrest Rodts. Whether it’s a few labs hanging in the back of a jeep or a crew of surfers catching the waves on Cisco Beach, Rodts’ work will make you feel like you’re there experiencing it all. 3. Hands On Cooking Class
Saturday, July 15
9 – 10:30 A.M. @ Nantucket Culinary Center

Be sure to leave your Saturday morning open this week for a hands-on cooking class with host, writer and recipe developer Carole Murko. Through years of personal study and dedication, Murko has developed a personal commitment to eating healthy and living well. During this one and a half hour class, she will introduce you to the essential steps for creating a gluten free, dairy free and soy free meal perfect for sharing with family and friends. 4. Nantucket Triathlon
Saturday, July 15
6 A.M.

Swim, cycle, and stride to support the Nantucket Scholarship Fund by participating in this year’s Nantucket Triathlon. Open to athletes of all ages, the triathlon will start with a swim at Jetties Beach, a bike ride out to Madaket, and end with a 3.4 mile run around town. 5. Opening Night: Seawife
Tuesday, July 18
7:30 P.M. @ White Heron Theatre

Watch Nantucket’s whaling history come to life in a musical medley of theater, folk music, and 19th-century storytelling. The first musical to hit White Heron Theatre’s summer season, Seawife tells a tale inspired by the adventures of some of Nantucket’s first sailors and captains with original music by The Lobbyists. 6. Caribbean Calypso
Tuesday, July 18
6 – 9 P.M. @ Bartlett’s Farm

Set your clocks to island time at Caribbean Calypso Night! In addition to island-inspired music by the PanNeubean Steel Drum Band, the night will feature cocktails, a farm-to-table dinner, live auction, and performance by comedian Kevin Flynn, all to benefit the Nantucket New School and Strong Wings Adventure School at Bartlett’s Farm Garden Center. 7. G. Love
Tuesday, July 18 – Wednesday, July 19
10 P.M. @ The Chicken Box

8. Film for Thought: Stop Making Sense
Wednesday, July 19
6:30 P.M. @ The Dreamland

For one night only, the Dreamland Theatre is screening what has been named the greatest documentary concert film in history. 9. A Garden Soirée
