3. Opening Night: Venus in Fur

5. Make Butter Better Brunch

The folks of Churncraft, featured in our May 2016 issue, will be teaming up with Nantucket Culinary Center this for an interactive demonstration of their hand-powered butter churn followed by a delicious brunch with Chef Greg Margolis. 6. Independence Day Fireworks

Bing, bang, boom! March your way down to Jetties Beach and grab a front row seat to Nantucket’s annual firework show. Bring a friend, bring a picnic, and bring your patriotic spirit to celebrate America’s independence. Note that should the weather not cooperate, the rain date is July 5.
7. Community Declaration of Independence Reading
Monday, July 4
9 A.M. @ Unitarian Universalist Church
Start waving your flag high for Nantucket’s 16th annual community reading of the Declaration of Independence. The festivities will begin with a community sing-a-long led by Bob and Diane Lehman and the Meeting House Community Chorus, so be sure to warm up that voice beforehand.
8. Trombone Shorty Concert
Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6
9 P.M. @ The Chicken Box
The 4th of July fun and festivities will continue to mid-week when Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue hit the stage at The Chicken Box. The New Orleans native performed alongside Madonna, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and Mary Lambert at this year’s Grammy Awards, so you don’t want to miss your chance to see him up close. 9. Science Speaker Series: Dr. Kathy Rhode
