Spend a Saturday morning strolling the streets and learning about the famous (and infamous) women of Nantucket’s history. From the whaling industry to Quakerism, there were many factors that contributed to the independence of Nantucket women before the same opportunities were afforded to their mainland counterparts. 10. Faraway Islands: Lightship Basket Making on Nantucket & Japan
Tuesdays – Sundays until October 8
10 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. @ Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum

There’s less than a month left to view the Lightship Basket Museum’s 2016 exhibition exploring the popularity of Nantucket basket making among Japanese craftswomen and the history of the interactions between the two islands. With over 100 baskets on display, you won’t have any trouble finding a favorite.
