Girls Soccer Still Searching For First Win
The Whaler girls soccer team lost to the St. John Paul II Lions 2-0 last night. The Whalers are still searching for their first win of the season and head coach Brian King said his team is better than their record shows.
“We might be the most unlucky team out there,” he said. “We had all the momentum in the first half and going into halftime. It was 0-0 at the half but we had missed 2 penalty kicks and a free kick that I still can’t believe went wide. It could have been 3-0 real easy. Second half SJPII came out fired up and controlled the ball a lot early on. We ended up getting our opportunities but still couldn’t knock it in the net. We hit the cross bar on a another free kick. Our D and goalie played so good. Well enough to win us that game. ”
The Lions goals came off an individual play by one of their midfielders and a penalty kick midway through the second half.
The Whalers will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to take on the Sandwich Blue Knights at 4 pm.
