5 REASONS WE’RE EXCITED FOR 2016 NANTUCKET WINE FESTIVAL

Written By: Emme Duncan

World-class wines and award-winning food… that’s what you can expect from the Nantucket Wine Festival. And as if you needed more motivation than that to be excited for this year’s fête, we’ve rounded up five of the top reasons we’re looking forward to next week’s festivities.

1. It’s their 20th anniversary.

It’s hard to believe that the Nantucket Wine Festival has been around for 20 years, and yet we can’t imagine the island without it. The first major festival in a long string of summer happenings, this is surely a favorite. And in their anniversary year, NWF is pulling out the stops with an increased focus on cuisine to complement the outstanding line-up of vintners and wineries.

2. Giving back never tasted this good.

Considered the signature event of the Nantucket Wine Festival, La Fête can be described as “a wine dinner like no other.” Modeled after La Paulée de Meursault, each guest donates a bottle of their favorite wine from their personal cellars and seating is curated to ensure a diverse selection at each table. On top of the exquisite five-course meal and vintage wines, this event includes a live auction with proceeds going to benefit No Kid Hungry. Tickets are still available here but not for long!

3. Wednesday night’s Welcome Reception.

This is your chance to rub shoulders with the who’s who of Nantucket Wine Festival and toast this landmark anniversary. Oh, and did we mention there’ll be a charcuterie extravaganza and a special N Magazine photo booth? We are proud to, once again, be sponsoring this kick-off event alongside Veuve Clicquot and the National Pork Board. Buy your tickets here and we’ll meet you by the champagne station.

4. NYTimes Chief Wine Critic, Eric Asimov.

If you couldn’t tell from the cover of our new May issue, we are particularly partial to all things bubbly. Mix that with The New York Times chief wine critic Eric Asimov, and we know that things are sure to get popping. Asimov will be lending his expertise in a seminar on the world of sparkling wines and we’re guessing you won’t want to miss it. Buy your tickets here while you still can.

5. Wine, wine, everywhere…no really, everywhere.

Some of our favorite Nantucket restaurants are hosting special wine-inspired tastings, brunches and dinners to supplement the official NWF events. From a four-course tasting menu and wine pairing at ATLAS, Cru’s 5th annual Cru Dinner featuring the famed Italian house Marchesi di Barolo, and sipping, savoring and socializing at the new Nantucket Culinary Center, there are plenty of opportunities to get your fix. Take a look at the full line-up of restaurant events here.
