Two Injured Downtown In Late Night Motorcycle Accident

Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident on Candle Street, near the intersection with Main Street, just before midnight Friday. The victims, a man and a woman, were taken in separate ambulances to Nantucket Cottage Hospital.

The collision involved the male driver of a motorcycle and a female bicyclist. The motorcyclist suffered significant head trauma, and was reported to be unconscious immediately following the collision. By the time he was loaded onto a stretcher, the man was alert and talking to first responders.

Four Nantucket Police Department vehicles, two ambulance crews, and State Troopers all responded to the scene.

The accident followed another motor vehicle collision just hours earlier on Eel Point Road, when a UPS truck collided with another vehicle. The UPS truck was pulling out of Primrose Lane taking a left when a vehicle on Eel Point Road heading toward Madaket struck it. One person was injured in that crash and transferred to the hospital, a the UPS driver declined transport. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
