Seven Nantucket Runners In Today’s Boston Marathon

Seven Nantucket residents are running in today’s Boston Marathon. Below are the seven runners and the cause that each is running for.

Sean Mitchell is running for The Last Call Foundation, which supports firefighter safety, gear, and research. The foundation was founded in memory of Boston firefighter Michael Kennedy, who was killed in a Beacon Street fire in 2014. You can read more about why Mitchell is running here. UPDATE: Mitchell completed the marathon in 5:07:18 (11:44 pace)

Grace Hull is running for The Boston Children’s Hospital. Hull’s daughter, Charlotte, was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in December of 2017, one week before Christmas. Hull said in her fundraiser page that after seeing how much Boston Children’s Hospital does for kids and her daughter, she has grown to strongly believe in their cause, what they do, and wanted to run to provide any support she could. UPDATE: Hull completed the marathon in 5:18:58 (12:10 pace)

Bradley Humphries is running for Massachusetts General Hospital. Humphries talks about his story here and how the assistance, wisdom, and “medical magicians” at MGH saved his life

Katherine Manchester is running for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. You can read more about her and her friend she is running for, Kori Olson, by following this link. UPDATE: Manchester completed the marathon in 4:22:50 (10:02 pace)

Mary Mcginty is running but The Current could not locate a donation page. UPDATE: Mcginty completed the marathon in 4:15:05 (9:44 pace)

Sarah Moura is running for Massachusetts General Hospital. A patient services coordinator at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital, she is raising the funds specifically for the emergency response department and you can read more about her story here. UPDATE: Moura completed the marathon in 5:19:08 (12:11 pace)

Mary Shertenlieb is running for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Shertenlieb, a three-time cancer survivor at just 45 years old, talks more about her story here. UPDATE: Shertenlieb completed the marathon in 4:47:48 (10:59 pace)
