Roastd General Store Under New Ownership

The Roastd General Store on Orange Street announced new ownership on Tuesday, with founder Lynne Begier passing the torch to one of her employees, Jackson Blau, who will serve as general manager, along with Jon Zack and Lisa Blau.

“Roastd has been a part of my life since I started living on Nantucket year round,” said Blau. “Even before learning directly from Lynne, Roastd has always been a place I could go for an extraordinary drink and a relaxing environment from what can sometimes be an overwhelming island. Being able to develop and carry forward that kind of delight and ease for others is a major honor.”

The specialty coffee, tea and general store opened its doors in 2017, and the new ownership team is committed to keeping Roastd open daily on a year-round basis.

“Lynne built a strong foundation for the ROASTD brand,” said Zack said. “She has curated a wide assortment of products and offerings, complete with strong vendor relationships, both on and off island and we are honored to be able to continue to nurture and grow this as a family.”

Among its goals for 2022, Zack said, is to add a menu of gluten-free breakfast and lunch options.

Begier will remain on the island working in the wellness arena, focusing on teaching yoga and meditation. She began teaching Blau as a barista and sharing the store’s recipes with him, and believes he is the right person to carry on what she started.

“In the beginning of 2021 I set an intention to pass ROASTD so that it would continue to thrive in the future,” Begier said. “And I knew that meant it needed to be someone who was already involved in the business.”
