1. Jonathan Nimerfroh: Opening Celebration
Friday, June 30
5 – 8 P.M. @ Samuel Owen Gallery

This Friday, stop in to the Samuel Owen Gallery located on Centre Street for an opening celebration of local photographer Jonathan Nimerfroh. With images varying from a surfer waiting for the next wave at dawn to a storm aggravating the ocean’s current, Nimerfroh’s latest collection of photos ooze all that is summer on the beach.



2. A Troubadour’s Tour of Historic Nantucket
Friday, June 30
6 P.M. @ The Whaling Museum

The Nantucket Historical Association is proud to announce the premiere concert and release party of a unique album inspired by the history of Nantucket from singer/songwriter Joe Flood this Friday evening. Through personal experience and historic research, Flood created this album in an effort to show locals and visitors alike a side of Nantucket they’ve never seen — or in this case heard — before. 3. New Play Workshop: Fireflies
Friday, June 30 + Saturday, July 1
7:30 P.M. @ White Heron Theatre

The annual new play workshop collaboration from White Heron Theatre and Long Wharf Theatre is back for its 5th summer! Don’t miss Fireflies, written by Tony nominee Matthew Barber, starring Tony award winner Judith Ivey and Oscar-nominee Marsha Mason for two nights only on June 30th and July 1st. 4. Osona Auction
Saturday, July 1
9:30 A.M. @ American Legion Hall

Take a step back in time through some of Nantucket’s most unique artifacts at Rafael Osona’s first weekly auction of the season this Saturday at the American Legion Hall. In preparation, visit the hall on June 29th and June 30th from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. for a first look preview at timely antiques and island classics. For more information, click here.




5. Firecracker 5K
Sunday, July 2
7 A.M.

Lace up your sneakers and kick off the month at the 27th annual Firecracker 5K. The race course runs along Monomoy and back to the Nantucket Health Club for light bites, a raffle, and cash prizes to the fastest runners in each age division. For registration and more information, click here.





6. Dark N’ Stormies
Monday, July 3
5:30 P.M.

Grab your crew and set sail into the summer on the Tall Ship Lynx to celebrate the 4th of July. The night will include dinner, drinks, and a firework display anchored in Nantucket Harbor. For tickets and more information, call the Egan Maritime Institute at 508-228-2505.



7. 4th of July Fireworks
Monday, July 3
9 P.M.

Pack your favorite beach blanket and light up your Fourth of July celebrations at the annual firework display on Jetties Beach. A Fourth of July tradition on Nantucket, the Jetties fireworks sparks the start of many holiday festivities to come.





8. Independence Day Water Fight
Tuesday, July 4
11:45 A.M. @ Main Street

Dig into your arsenal of all things aquatic and join the town firefighters and Boynton Lane Reserves as they battle it out for the annual Independence Day water fight. Open to all ages, this Fourth of July favorite will complete a morning of festivities on Main Street.





9. Cooking Healthy Comfort Food
Wednesday, July 5
6:30 P.M. @ Nantucket Culinary Center

Join culinary artist Caroline Murko at the Nantucket Culinary Center as she shares her secret recipe for healthy cooking: simplicity. Based on a menu of locally-sourced, nourishing foods, this dinner and demonstration proves that healthy can be both nutritious and delicious. 10. Trashion Show
Thursday, July 6
2 P.M. @ Cisco Brewers

Reduce, reuse, recycle, and rethink your role in protecting our beaches at the 2nd annual Trashion Show presented by Cisco Brewers and the Nantucket blACKbook. In an effort to raise awareness about waste management and environmental responsibility, the show will feature a collection of designs made entirely from recycled goods.
