The Mid-Island Auto Wash facility was demolished early Monday morning to make way for a new, state-of-the-art car wash slated to open next year.
The building at 41 Sparks Avenue, owned by Island Energy Services, was torn down in a matter of hours on Monday. Co-owner Todd Boling said the project has been in the works for years, and its start was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new car wash facility that will be built in its place “will be a significant upgrade compared to what was there,” Boling said, and will include a conveyor belt and tunnel for vehicles. The hope is to have the new car wash open for the spring of 2022.
The team at Island Energy Services is hailing it as “The Carwash The Island Deserves.” The new automatic carwash will feature a conveyor system that guides vehicles through a tunnel in “a matter of minutes,” a building size that accommodates all vehicles, an undercarriage cleaning system, Airblade drying, and additional self serve carwash bays.
