FEATURED NANTUCKET PHOTOGRAPHER: JONATHAN NIMERFROH

Surf and lifestyle photographer Jonathan Nimerfroh’s “Slurpee Wave” photos recently became a viral internet sensation. Jonathan lives year round on Nantucket, an island 30 miles off the coast of Massachusetts and is the owner of three photography businesses; JDN PHOTOGRAPHY, Nantucket Salt and Runaway Bride Nantucket. When his tiny island gets too small, Jonathan travels worldwide, the only requirement being a chance to surf. Jonathan’s award-winning photography has been featured in such publications as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Stay Wild Magazine, and much more. Jonathan is a proud member of The Photographers Alliance of Nantucket and his work is currently being exhibited exclusively at Samuel Owen Gallery.

For this series, Jonathan said, “Sometimes you can sense the soul of a place when you visit, and you connect with it. This was the case with Nosara. Every day at sunset I pinched myself, thinking how lucky I was to have yet another perfect day. The Harmony Hotel sits just yards away, down a sandy path from the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, and is ensconced in lush, tropical trees, humming birds, and monkeys, its soundtrack a rich summer hum from cicadas, bird songs and far off monkey calls. It feels like you are in the jungle, and you are.”
