Daiva Salon Opens In Joe’s Barber Shop

Joe’s Barber Shop on Pleasant Street is under new management, as island resident Daiva Utariene is renting the space from the Souza family and has opened Daiva Salon at the mid-island location.

Utariene told the Current this week that her salon will offer haircuts and services for the entire family, along with coloring, lashes, nails and other treatments. Utariene, who is originally from Lithuania, has worked in a number of island salons over the years, and previously owned Nantucket Diva on Amelia Drive before it was forced to close when the building owner decided to sell the property.

She said the building would be keeping the historic “Joe’s Barber Shop” sign outside the building, and much of the interior will remain the same, although she will be making some aesthetic changes.

Daiva Salon will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed on Sundays and Mondays
