Current Court Report – November 17, 2021

The island woman involved in this car accident on Madaket Road last week was arraigned in Monday’s Nantucket District Court session which was otherwise very uneventful.

Tammy Williams, 59, of Nantucket, was arraigned for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. She had not-guilty pleas entered on her behalf and was ordered to return to court Dec. 9 for a pretrial hearing.

According to the statement of facts provided by the court, Williams told police she put her head down while driving outbound on Madaket Road, crossed into the other lane, and struck an oncoming vehicle causing that vehicle to leave the roadway and become disabled. Williams admitted to drinking one beer earlier in the day and taking prescription medication.

Collin Byrnes, 33, of Nantucket, was arraigned on Nov. 13 charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, refusing to identify himself to police, and resisting arrest. He had not-guilty pleas entered on his behalf and was ordered to return to court Dec. 9 for a pretrial hearing.
